How attribution works
Each affiliate is issued a personal referral link of the form blacksheepmind.com/r/12345678, where the eight-digit code is opaque (it does not expose your identity or the affiliate count). When a visitor clicks your link, a signed server-side cookie is set on their browser for thirty days. A new referral click during that window overrides the previous one (last-touch wins). When the visitor purchases — either individually or by contributing to a shared pool — the sale is locked to the affiliate present in their cookie at the moment the checkout session is created. Commissions are reconciled against the Stripe webhook payload, not against the client.
Self-purchases are detected by email match and do not earn commission. Refunds within the payout window void the commission; refunds after payout create a clawback netted against the next payout.
